[Organizers] Dance organizers - anyone have talent sit in with visiting bands?

Hi Barb,

I am part of the same organizational board as Shelley. The band
mentioned is very tight but also very flexible. They tolerate having a
sit-in well. They offered an opening to several people - one tune,
after the break.

When asked to sit in with a good band I am always flattered but my usual
response is, "It's your gig". To put my opinion simply, I think it
should always be at the invitation of the band & never the other way
around. A pick-up band is a completely different story with very
different expectations. Always fun.

Also, when you have spent a significant amount of money to hire a top
flight band, do you really want someone else in the mix? Does your
audience? If you want to help grow local talent, ask the band if they
will do a workshop outside of the dance.

Regards, Tom Verdot (Cherri's husband - I guess I should get my own line
on this list)
